I Found My Forever Home!
Rusty is a 2-year-old Red Nose Staffie mix.
From Foster dad:
I’ve had Rusty for approximately a month. He is a very handsome, cute, laid-back, and friendly 3 year old American Stafford-shire Terrier. He has a very beautiful, soft, red-orange coat. Often times, I get compliments as I walk with him in town; I call him my best wingman. He is great at home, never damaged any of our furniture, is potty-trained, and does an adorable flop on the floor or on the sofa to take a snooze regularly. I can leave him at home for 3-5+ hours and come home finding him sleeping.
After having fostered 2 other dogs, Rusty is by far the friendliest: he greets new strangers and kids with enthusiasm, and is friendly with other dogs while wagging his tail (never aggressive/dominant). Rusty goes to the Orange dog park, sniffs other dogs, runs with them at times. He isn’t the fastest dog. I’ve found out that he is not too fond of getting his butt wiped after pooping, but I still do it because I like the idea of my dog to have a clean butt. He is otherwise submissive to me.
Rusty does nibble on my hand which I do not mind at all (it isn’t hard). I think it gives him some form of security or bonding time with me. This nibbling of my hand can be substituted by a rubber bone/real bone. I’ve tried longboard with him, but he does not lead. However, he can be a good running dog as he runs with me.
He doesn’t require much exercise; generally 2x 40 minute walk or approximately 2x ¾-1 mile walk; or 30-45 minute dog park and 1 walk. After the walk he just snoozes for hours. He has the potential to be really good at playing catch with a tennis ball but he hasn’t mastered it. I feed him 4 cups of food a day. I never put him in a dog kennel ever.
