Gus is a three year-old brindled American Staffie mix who was found as a stray and brought to the shelter.
He was adopted soon after and spent a few months in a loving home. He was out on a walk one day and had an altercation with another dog. The owners wanted to surrender him at this point. This incident can happen for many reasons, but that is why he is back with us. We believe he was protecting his family. He has been in boarding where he has had some training. We do not socialize Gus with other pups but he does well with people.
Our trainer has had Gus around children of all ages, including his own baby son. Gus is great with people, but he is still guarded and shows aggression with some other dogs. Gus is smart, strong, affectionate and loyal. He is a friendly dog filled with love. He will make a great dog for someone who understands that he is not a “dog park” kind of dog. He has to be on a leash when on walks and not socialized with other pups.
He would do great with someone who understands and has had experience with the Staffie breed and has patience. Gus would also do well in a foster home where he can decompress from the boarding life. He needs a strong alpha leader to make him feel secure.
Gus could be found at the shelter wagging his tail and always wanting to please. He is a big boy weighing about 75 pounds, He has a calm personality and doesn’t need much space to be happy a long as he has someone to show him so attention and love.
He is neutered and up to date on all of his shots. Come on down and meet this amazing boy.
Gus can be found on our social media sites as well including Facebook and Instagram.
