Gertie is a beautiful 1.5-year-old white and brindle American Staffordshire Terrier who has been in foster care with a loving family for three months. They have written this bio to showcase her amazing qualities.
We have been fostering Gertrude for the past three months and during this time we have learned a lot about her. When she first arrived, she was sweet but had a lot of nervous energy and was not comfortable walking on a leash. However, with some structure and simple training, she has undergone a remarkable transformation. She now walks comfortably on a leash, follows the “heel” command, sits on command, even while mid-walk, and has become less reactive to other dogs on walks, thanks to the “leave it” command. At home, she is calm and happy to lay by your side. Gertrude is a loving dog and adores people, both adults and children. She is especially gentle with kids and even listens to my 8-year-old daughter when she tells her to go to her “place” so she doesn’t lick her face while she ties her shoes. She is a sweet pup and loves nothing more than pleasing her owners, which has made her easy to train. We believe that Gertrude will thrive in a loving home with structure and daily walks. We do not know how she will get along with other pets, so it would be best for her to be the only dog in the household.
