I Found My Forever Home!
Cherokee is a 3 1/2 year old black lab boxer mix.
His birthday is August 2015. We adopted him at 4 months old from a couple who got him from a shelter in the Camp Pendleton area. We don’t know how he ended up at the shelter but think he was taken from his litter earlier than 8 weeks since some of his social cues are a bit off (he doesn’t get bothered if other dogs correct him). He is fully up to date with all of his shots and vaccines. He is fixed and microchipped.
He is fully house trained and has never had an accident after the first week in our home. He has a designated potty area in our backyard that he knows is the only spot to do his duty. He is fully crate trained and loves to relax in his crate as we made that his safe place where he puts himself to sleep at about 8pm every night. His crate is his “room” and will go straight inside if given the “room” command.
He responds to common commands such as sit, wait, come, paw, out, backup and relax but does well with an alpha human dishing out the commands since he’s a smart boy and will laugh at a meek and mild request for a command. He comes from a home where he wasn’t allow on furniture and in the baby’s room so he’s used to living with boundaries.
He does not do well with small children but will be the biggest snuggle bug with families with older kids looking for a new best pal! Cherokee is the smartest boy who loves to learn new tricks and get praise from his human. He responds really well to verbal, physical and treat giving praise. He is extremely loyal and will lay next to his favorite human and no matter what room in the home you travel to. When one member of your household leaves Cherokee will lay by the front door calmly awaiting his loving pack member to return.
He is a fun loving goof ball that enjoys his walks and getting his wiggles out in the fresh air. Perfect for anyone looking for a walking or running partner.
